About the author

Dr. Rina Sahu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, INDIA. She has completed her B.Tech and M. Tech in Metallurgy from NIT Jamshedpur and Ph.D (Engg.) in Metallic glasses at IIEST Shibpur in 2010. Dr. Rina has over 21 years of experience in research and academia, she has made substantial contribution to the field of metallic glasses, nanostructured materials, lean grade ores, mineral beneficiation, hydrometallurgy, etc. Her research career commenced at CSIR-NML Jamshedpur (2003-2010), where she spent six years working on various metallurgical research projects. Transitioning into academia, she has accumulated over 15 years of teaching experience at BIT Ranchi, OPJIT Raighar and NIT Jamshedpur, where she has been serving since 2012. She has authored 51 research papers in SCI, Scopus and other international and national journals and has presented more than 122 conference proceedings (published) at national and international conferences. Dr. Rina has published 8 books including 6 international publications and successfully led 3 sponsored research projects. Regarding academic contribution- editorial board member of 2 reputed journals and organized 17 national and international conferences and workshops. She has supervised 10 Ph.D. scholars (2 awarded), Diploma-24, UG-122, PG-17 projects. Regarding awards & recognition 19 prestigious awards for research excellence and academia contributions. She has the membership of The Indian Institute of Metal (IIM- Life Member), The Institute of Engineers (IEI-Life Member), The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF-Member), Vigyan Bharti, Jharkhand (VB-Life Member) and Hum Aur Aap Foundation.

Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar, Director at the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. Before this, he served as the Director of NIT Manipur for a full term of five years. He completed his bachelor’s degree (mechanical engineering) from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, West Bengal, and his master’s degree (mechanical engineering) from IIT Kharagpur. He completed his Ph.D. (engineering) from Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, Ranchi. As a mechanical engineer he had worked with Hindustan Motors Limited and Indian Railways. He had more than 33 years of teaching experience [NIFFT Ranchi, STC West Bengal, KGEC West Bengal, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, NIT Manipur and NIT Jamshedpur]. He has supervised more than 20 M.Tech thesis and 21 Ph.D. students. Research interest in the field of metal matrix composites, polymer matrix composites, development of environment-friendly materials, synthesis of forged powder metallurgy components and metal casting processes. He has supervised many research projects sponsored by AICTE, New Delhi; CSIR, New Delhi; UGC, New Delhi; DST, New Delhi. He has authored two books. He has published over 125 technical papers in referred journals of national and international importance and presented more than 50 technical papers at national and international conferences. He is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and a member of many professional bodies.

Dr Ram Krishna is an experienced metals researcher and academic with a background in metallurgy. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in metallurgical engineering and material science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, and his master’s degree in materials and metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Dr Krishna continued his studies at the University of Leicester, UK, obtaining his PhD in 2011. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Manchester, UK and North Carolina State University, USA. His research interests cover a wide range of materials for high- temperature applications, including mechanical testing of their behavior and performance, as well as advanced characterization techniques, as evidenced by his H-index of 13 and designation as co-inventor of 13 patents. He has authored or co-authored more than 35 research papers in journals and conference proceedings. His current research focuses on 3Dprinting of metallic and ceramic alloys and materials for 3D printing applications.
