About this ebook

The charter of 1196 is a treaty issued by king Richard I of England, helping to define a clear boundary with the king of France, Philip II Augustus. This was achieved towards the end of his reign as king, directly following his sojourn during the crusades, establishing a working peace with his crusading peer, the king of France. This disputes would appear again during the reign of his brother John Lackland, which would result in the forfeiture of several of the French duchies that are mentioned here.
