About this ebook

A comprehensive field guide to the birds of central and southern India.

Southern India is one of the great world-birding destinations, and what riches await – from the endemic-rich Western Ghats across the central plains down to the wetlands and woods of Kerala, every part of southern India heaves with birds – often the sheer biodiversity must be seen to be believed.

This guide covers the birds of the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, including Pondicherry and the Maldives. Accurate illustrations are accompanied by a concise text highlighting identification, voice, habitat, altitudinal range, distribution and status. A code indicates the states in which the birds occur.

Portable and pocket-friendly for field use yet authoritative, this guide provides the confidence to help you identify any bird you encounter in this magical, bird-rich part of Southern Asia.
