Die titelgebende Novelle wurde 1961 unter der Regie von William Castle (Rosemarys Baby) als Mr. Sardonicus (deutscher Verleihtitel: Der unheimliche Mr. Sardonicus) nach einem Drehbuch des Autors verfilmt.
