About the author

Ravonte L. Gholston Born on April 4, 1988, in Oxnard, California. Raised by a single mother in an apartment complex in El Rio, California. Grew up around a lot of family members and a few friends. I was into a lot of video games and, at the time, skateboarding. At the age of twelve is when I started to develop a talent for writing. A simple poem in my uncle Joe’s bathroom led me to start writing. Over the years, I slowly started writing songs with my cousins Quintin Pooler and Chyna Wheatly. But it wasn’t until I got into high school that I turned it into poetry. I moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where I met Britney Brooks. She helped me develop myself into a storyteller; we would talk all throughout the night and have story time two to three times a week. Shortly after graduating, I moved to California and got more connected with my writing and developed the skills of writing and storytelling that I have today. *** George Thompson II For Sharron Linna Dillon I would like to thank you for each and every thing you have done for me. You were there for me in all my times of need to show your love. From the day you birthed me into this world, I settled on one day presenting you with a gold medal. The day I prayed for, the day I longed for is here. Mom, this is my gift to you, my version of a gold medal. I hope you enjoy. I love you.
