LAWRENCE L. LESHAN, Ph.D., is psychologist, former professor, and author. Besides more than 50 articles in professional journals, Dr. LeShan is the author of Toward a General Theory of the Paranormal, The Medium, the Mystic and the Physicist, and How to Meditate. He was the chief investigator for the research project on paranormal phenomena sponsored by the Ayer Foundation. He spent five years in the U. S. Army as a clinical psychologist during World War II and the Korean War. In the 1980s, Dr. Leshan began providing psychotherapy for cancer patients, a field in which he is considered a pioneer.
