Об электронной книге

Phytochemical Nanodelivery Systems as Potential Biopharmaceuticals comprehensively reviews current information on nanotechnology applied to phytochemical nanoencapsulation to enhance their bioavailability and bioactivity. The book is divided into two sections, the first section critically reviews current information on the field of nanotechnology and phytochemicals, and the second section highlights the pre-clinical and clinical studies of phytochemicals to comprehensively review the efficacy of these molecules as drugs of human use. Phytochemical Nanodelivery Systems as Potential Biopharmaceuticals provides a useful overview of this rapidly evolving field for materials scientists and pharmaceutical scientists, as well as for those with an interest in biopharmaceuticals from plant sources, such as organic chemists and food scientists. - Provides an introduction to both phytochemicals and nanomaterials for use in biopharmaceutics, allowing both materials scientists and pharmaceutical scientists to gain a basic understanding of each field - Reviews key phytochemical types for use as biopharmaceuticals, including terpenes, alkaloids, glucosinolates and more - Explores the various nanomaterials and nanoencapsulation techniques for administration of phytochemical nanoformulations

Dr J. Basilio Heredia is a Research Professor at the Research Center for Food and Development, (CONACYT) Mexico. He completed his PhD in Food Science and Technology at Texas A&M University, USA (2006). His research focuses on phytochemicals, nutraceuticals, antioxidants and bioactive compounds for biomedical applications.

Dr Gutiérrez-Grijalva has a degree in Biochemical Engineering, and a Doctorate in Sciences, with specialization in the study of metabolomics, bioavailability and bioactivity of phytochemicals from medicinal plants from CIAD. His research is focuses on the metabolomics, bioactivity and bioavailability of phytochemicals, with specialism in the phytochemicals from plants of the Northwestern region of Mexico.

Dr Angel Licea-Claveríe is a full-time Professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Tijuana, which is part of the Tecnológico Nacional de México (Mexico). He completed his PhD on Polymer Chemistry at the Leuna-Merseburg Technological University in Germany (1990). He has 20 years of experience in the study of temperature and pH sensitive polymers and 14 years of experience on controlled radical polymerization techniques. His research group have studied the controlled release of anti-inflammatory and anticancer drugs from the sensitive polymeric materials developed. Currently he works on the development of nanocarriers and hydrogel-based nanocomposite biomaterials. He is a member of the Mexican Polymer Society since 1998 and was its National President (2016-2017), he is also a Member of the Mexican Chemical Society since 1994, and Member of the American Chemical Society, Division of Polymer Chemistry, since 2006.

Dr. Janet Gutiérrez is an Associate Professor in the NutriOmics research group at the School of Engineering and Sciences from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Director of the Department of Bioengineering and Science from the South Region of Tecnológico de Monterrey. For over 15 years, she has been working on the phytochemistry and nutritional biochemistry of phenolic compounds and other nutraceuticals. She has published more than 90 papers in different prestigious journals and is the inventor of more than 10 patents and applications in Mexico and abroad. Working with industry and social services are her main drivers in the development of challenges related to biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture and nutraceutical discovery and characterization. In 2017, the State of Nuevo Leon awarded her with the medal for the Civic Merit due to her research career. She is a member of the National Researchers Council; the technical committee of the National Network for Research on functional foods and nutraceuticals (AlfaNutra) and participant in CYTED Network for Foods with Probiotic functionality for malnourished childen (PROINFANT). Additionally, since 2018, she is a part of the Young Scientists selected by the World Economic Forum.
