With the arrival of warm weather and good fishing, life should be great for J.W. Jackson and his wife, Zee. Something’s wrong, though. The morning newspaper brings an update on the case of the Headless Horseman, a corpse found six months ago. Such murders are rare on the Vineyard, and J.W. wonders if a killer is wandering free on the island. Something’s wrong at home, too. Zee seems curiously distant. J.W. gets a distraction in the form of Abraham Mahsimba, a mysterious man searching for two ancient soapstone eagles. Mahsimba follows their trail to the Vineyard and enlists J.W.’s help. The search for the eagles pits them against some of the most powerful figures in the Vineyard’s art world, including some who would stop at nothing to add forbidden objects to their collections.

Tidy deaths under the name murderer using the setting Cape Cod IBM Seashore. Dead bodies drift along the water or wash up on beaches almost scheduled on the calendar; not interrupting people only creating volunteer charity work to solve various problem. Money is a bit separate from area company supply stores; therefore, is directly applied to a person's worth. The calendar is first priority set by companies for their supply's and employee schedule; money is for worth. Emotional language is reserved for nearby Catskill and Pocono mountains where temperatures exist. Sun and Moon rise-set there is a honorable mention to describe the light.
About the author
The late Philip R. Craig was the author of nineteen novels in the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery series. A professor emeritus of English at Wheelock College in Boston, he loved the Vineyard and lived there year-round with his wife, Shirley.
