Deux hommes, une gare, un train. Un roman qui part en retard, s’arrête sur les voies et finit en eau de boudin. Deux copains rêvent d’aventure. Se procurent à cet effet un baluchon et deviennent vagabonds. De nuit s’introduisent dans une gare de marchandises, et se cachent dans un train. Ne savent pas quand ils partiront et où ils partiront. Ne savent même pas s’ils partiront. Au petit matin le train s’ébranle. Des jours durant, les deux amis brûlent le dur, comme on dit dans les romans de Jack London, de Kerouac, de Jim Tully. À la différence près qu’ils ne verront pas Sacramento ou les grandes plaines du Wyoming, mais Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, le parc naturel régional du Gâtinais, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Nevers et Clermont-Ferrand... bref, le cœur de la France !
