About the author

Parvaiz Ahmad Ganie currently holds the position of a scientist at the ICAR-Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research in Bhimtal, India. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Fisheries at SKUAST-K in Srinagar, India, and subsequently completed his master's degrees at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai. He is associated with the development of aquaculture suitable sites across 25 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, an eastern Himalayan hill state, utilizing advanced geospatial tools. Furthermore, he has actively participated in crafting a roadmap for fisheries and aquaculture development in Himalayan states and union territories, such as Ladakh. His research interests span various areas, including site suitability analysis for cold water aquaculture development, vulnerability and risk mapping, and adopting a watershed and river basin approach to hill aquatic resource management. He has 25+ research publications in reputed international journals.

Ravindra Posti, a member of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, presently holds the position of young professional-II within the Division of Fisheries Resource Management at the ICAR-Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research in Bhimtal, India. He has earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from HNBGU Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India. He has over a decade of experience as a GIS professional. He was also associated in developing the road map for fisheries and aquaculture development in the Indian Himalayan state, Ladakh. His current research pursuits encompass watershed and springshed management, soil erosion mapping in mountainous watersheds, as well as biodiversity assessment and habitat mapping. He has published 20+ research publications in esteemed international journals, and has made significant contributions to various publications, including book chapters, training manuals, and bulletins.

Dr. Pramod Kumar Pandey has more than 34 years of experience in the field of fisheries and aquaculture in different capacities. He started his professional carrier at Marine Products Export Development Authority, Kochi in 1988. He joined Agricultural Research Service as a scientist in the year 1993 and worked at different positions in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, India. He has also worked at ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai. After working as Dean, College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal) for more than 5 years, he joined as Director, ICAR- DCFR, Bhimtal since May 2021. He had received many national and international awards from different organizations. He has around 170 publications including research papers in national and international journals, and 10 books to his credit. His most significant achievement has been the voluntary breeding of magur (Magurmagur) in captivity.
