This novel was a ‘holy smokes’ hind of intense right from the very beginning. Tyler takes off running and doesn’t stop until the entire plot wraps up. The plot is amazing yet frightening in the possibilities that it presents. The ‘what ifs’ are almost as entertaining as the extremely exciting plot that is developed. Tyler’s innovative storytelling had me hooked throughout. The intricate plot that Tyler develops was taken to a higher level by the unforgettable cast that she’s created. Jayson and Layla were a complex couple when we first met them in an earlier novel in the series, but Tyler continues to develop them here for an even more hard hitting tale. Their pasts and presents collide in an action packed, adventure filled, danger riddled tale chalk full of romance and explosive chemistry. But for those joining the series here don’t worry, you get to know them well enough here to fall in love with the fantastic cast and the unforgettable world that they find themselves in. Tyler writes the book on paranormal romantic suspense and does it with flair. This novel is a must read for those who enjoy the genre. But when Layla hears of Jayson’s foolish endeavour, she throws caution to the wind; she will see that he comes home alive, even if she has to wing it! Unbelievable but true! HER ROGUE ALPHA is the fifth book in Paige Tyler fantastic X-Ops series, which shows no sign of slowing down! The continuing story arc gets even more complicated, and there is so much action, you barely have time to breathe before something else happens. This book might be a bit harder for a newcomer to the series, but the story is so exciting, it’s worth the effort; the worst that could happen is that you would want to read all the previous books, which you would never regret. Jayson’s plight felt so real I had tears in my eyes at the beginning, but wow! When he comes to his senses, it’s magnificent and absolutely believable! Layla is just your typical Paige Tyler female character: fabulous, fierce, engaging and she actually saves the day; how wonderful! I loved how the romance between Layla and Jayson progressed: every facet of the feelings they had for each other grew as they faced dangerous situations; nothing felt fabricated. That’s exactly how I like a romance to unfold. And O joy! Paige Tyler introduced two wonderful characters which will appear in future instalments as well as a favourite of mine who will make an appearance in the future. X-Ops fans, this is not over by far!
