Pacific Glory was a reasonably well-constructed novel. This one is three stories tossed together, and only one of the three is really readable; the second and third are unconvincing and half-finished.

I never heard anything about a huge japanese carrier during that time. Maybe it was a secret. Good story line and the stories about the slave labor camps and slaves treatment is acurate. Don't give up.

Great novel - the reader is hooked from start to finish. Recommend it.
About the author
P. T. DEUTERMANN is the author of fifteen previous novels, including The Last Man and Pacific Glory, which won the W. Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction. Deutermann spent twenty-six years in military and government service, which included a Pearl Harbor tour of duty; his father was a Vice Admiral in the WWII Pacific theater, and his uncle and older brother were submariners, whose stories helped inform this novel. He lives with his wife in North Carolina.
