मी रेषांकडे केव्हा, कसा वळलो? आज आठवतं ते इतकंच की, लहान वयातच वळलो. शब्दांकडे वळण्याआधी रेषांकडे वळलो. घरात कोणी चित्रकार नव्हते. कोणामुळे हा नाद लागला? काही सांगता येत नाही. आठवणी उकरू लागल्यावर ध्यानात येतं की, ही आवड निर्माण व्हायला माझी आई थोडीफार कारणीभूत झालेली आहे. रांगोळ्या, गव्हा-तांदळांनी भरलेले चौक, रंगविलेले संक्रांतीचे घट. हिरवी पाने, नारळ, सुपार्‍या, खणांच्या घड्या, काचेच्या बांगड्या, बुक्का, गुलाल, हळद-कुंकू, चैत्रगौरी, त्यांच्यापुढची आरास, सारवलेल्या अंगणात रेखलेली गौरीची पावले... आकृती, रंग, रेषा यांची किती विविध आणि सुंदर रूपं मला बघायला मिळायची! मला आज वाटतं, चित्रकलेचं माझं शिक्षण इथून सुरू झालं.
साहित्यिक असतो, होत नाही. जितक्या स्वाभाविकपणे केळीला घड येतो.
तितक्याच स्वाभाविकपणे त्याच्याकडून लेखन होतं.जमिनीचं कवच फोडून वर ऊसळून येणा-या
केळीच्या रसरशीत कोंभातच घडाचं आश्वासन असतं.
असा तो मुळातच असला, म्हणजे आजूबाजूच्या वातावरणाचा लाभ त्याला मिळतो.

As I stayed in a small hut at the banks of a lake in the Nagzira Sanctuary, this huge peepul was my constant companion.We all know Rajasthan as a desert. But we found many storages of water all along which are far away from the human habitats. It was here that we came across many birds.I roamed around the Himachal Pradesh. I saw the snow covered Himalayas with my naked eyes. And while at the Solan Railway Station, I also came across babies tied on their mother's backs, watching the world around them with astonished and bewildered eyes.
A person is born as a litterateur; he is not moulded into one. This process is similar to healthy shoot of banana emerging from the soil, full of promise of bearing a banana bunch. When a person is full of such competency then he is benefitted by the environment around him.This book is a glimpse of the author’s journey for the past 40 years.
