Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay was born in 1894 in Muratipur, a small village out hundred miles north of Calcutta . Bandopadhyay attended a local village school, his education would have ended there but for the assistance of a local benefactor whose generosity made it possible for him to attend high school. In 1914 he passed the Matriculation Examination and was admitted to Ripon College , Calcutta , graduating in 1918. He took up teaching as a profession and continued as a teacher for the greater part of his life, except for short intervals as a cattle inspector and a clerk. He died in November 1950 His first publication was a short story which appeared in a Calcutta journal in 1922. From then on he wrote regularly. He has fifty published works to his credit, of which seventeen are novels and twenty are collections of short stories .Pather Panchali. was his greatest work , one which brought him fame. It appeared first serially in the journal Vichitra, but was published in book form in 1929.
Prasad Thakur is a post graduate in Communication & Journalism as well as in English literature.┬аCurrently he is working as a Professor in the Department of Communication & Journalism at University of Mumbai. After getting technical education in film and animation production, he has worked for many years in film industry in various faculties. He has also worked as a casting director for many Hindi and Marathi films, national and international commercials as well as directed many documentaries and short films. While working in the film industry, he secured degree in media studies and qualified Net-Set in the same subject. Further he entered in the field of education. Currently, his research for the degree of Ph.D. is in final stage. He has conducted many workshops related to film making, television programing, animation production and Journalism etc. in Shivaji University Kolhapur, reliance aims Pune, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, Nagpur University and many other colleges in Maharashtra. His contribution in national and international workshops and seminars in the field of media research is remarkable. The novel and film transformation studies are a subject of his research and his book 'MadhyamantarтАЩ has been published. His translation of тАШPather PanchaliтАЩ already reached to innumerable readers of Maharashtra and acclaimed as best seller.
