About this ebook

The title of the book is self-explanatory…. As I try to include some forgotten people, places, school college, teachers, events, my dear family, relatives and friends who touched and impacted our lives and left an indelible impression on us….we didn’t realize their true worth and took many things for granted as we thought that was the way of life in our sheltered world of simplicity and innocence .

About the author

My name is onju bezbaruah..i have written this manuscript with the sole intention of going down

memory lane and relive those glorious days of my childhood and growing up years with my close-

knit family, my relatives, my friends and the school and college sisters, teachers and all the local

people of this little town which impacted my life in a wonderful way…..This small town which gave

us the best years of my life is Shillong, now the capital of Meghalaya! I wanted to share this story

with all my loved ones and people who were living in Shillong that time, to go back in time and

recollect those glorious years and also with those I have known here, since I left my home-town, of a

life in a hill-station..i can still go back into time and feel good thinking about those days and cheer

me up anytime in this gloomy worlds After completing my education from the reputed school and college St. Mary’s in Shillong, I proceeded to Mumbai {Bombay} as it was known those days, to

follow my dream of studying Commercial Arts in the esteemed Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts and

become a Graphic Designer and worked in Advertising Agencies until I felt I should go back to my old life and compare and contrast which life was better – so my story is self - explanatory! It’s only when we leave our comfort zone when we realize the valuable treasures we leave behind and this is exactly what I wrote in my book, of all the places, people, experiences, memories which we took for granted then and which impacted our lives, eons back, will still retain their beauty and uniqueness that made up our homeland, called Shillong…..which I still call my homelands
