literally ruined my life. like i genuinely couldn’tread another book for 2 months and i lay awake at night thinking about how much this book frustrated me. most, if not all, of the characters are only interesting in their own pov. nico being the most boring was a disappointment. the plot wasn't there. this entire book felt like a justification for what was going to happen in future books. psa if you have to take a full chapter to explain the plot twist, then it wasn't a good plot twist. I only cared about Tristan and Callum. if Callum is alive and Tristan doesn't have an existential crisis again I might consider reading the second book.

Some promise, but gets far too bogged down in rehashing the same emotional loops over and over. In fact there's very little story, setting, or even magic in this book. It's almost entirely a 6 character locked room experiment, or as Sartre put it, 6 people in hell. Except there's no obvious reason for any of them to be the way they are, and none of them are interesting, let alone likable. Final straw, while there's no plot, the end is entirely a cliffhanger. So far unimpressed.
