This book has a great premise, but the main character's development is difficult to connect with. While his monstrous nature and inability to recall his past offer a compelling setup, his deep-seated self-loathing and constant overthinking make him hard to root for. His desperate attempt to be human, despite not knowing his past, feels more like a frustrating internal monologue than a relatable journey. The protagonist's lack of a clear, relatable goal makes the story feel aimless, like a diary rather than an adventure. Additionally, some of the character's interactions, specifically his interest in "little girls," are quite unsettling and detract from the overall reading experience. In short, the book has a strong foundation, but the execution of the main character's personality and motivations is a bit off-putting.

I really enjoyed the series to far. The earlier volumes were a bit harder to read since the main character was quite whiny, especially about the dragon scale powder. I didn't realize it was a static effect and that it wasn't something he could just not use. I think making a note on those abilities (static) or something. oe even having a proper description of the abilities he gets super worried about would be helpful. overall I would recommend it. I can't wait where the series goes from here.
