The theme of the convention focused on the strategic importance of Operational Research (OR) in shaping the future, aligning with the national developmental vision of "India 2020." The event featured a rich blend of invited talks, panel discussions, and contributed papers. Notably, contributions from three eminent professors from North American universities added considerable academic depth.
This edited volume includes revised and peer-reviewed papers presented during the convention, categorized into theoretical contributions, application-driven studies, and theme-based discussions. The selection reflects both the diversity and depth of current OR research in India.
The volume is dedicated to the memory of Professor M.G. Puri, who played a pivotal role in organizing the convention and tragically lost his life in a terrorist attack during the 38th ORSI Convention. His loss is deeply felt by the OR community.
The editors acknowledge the invaluable support of reviewers, authors, and volunteers—especially Mr. Hasmukh Gajjar and Ms. Santhi—for their dedication. Despite delays, this volume stands as a testament to collaborative academic effort and is a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and students of Operational Research.
