Roberta RogowΒ always wanted to tell stories from the day she could hold a pencil. At the same time, she could not stop singing. After a brief career as coffeehouse singer and professional chorister, she combined her love of literature with her love of music during a 37-year career as a children's librarian in New Jersey, where she could promote literacy and entertain youngsters.Β
In her spare time, Roberta wrote stories for fanzines incorporating historical characters into fictional situations. This led to theΒ Dodgson/Doyle mysteries, in which the Reverend Mr. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) and Dr.Β Sir Arthur Conan Doyle solve mysteries together, and the Pettigrew and Roth mysteries set in Gilded Age New York City.
Now her love of history has turned in another direction with the Saga of Halvar, set in an alternate universe on what is almost, but not quite, Manhattan Island.
As a longtime fan of science fiction, Roberta made a name for herself as a writer and performer of filk music at conventions and was inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame in 2013.Β
Roberta is a widow. She has two daughters: Miriam Ann Moore, a travel agentΒ living in San Francisco who has written the Marti Hirsch mysteries, and Louise Katherine Howard, a computer programmer who lives near Washington DC.Β
