Far from being just a "linking" book for a trilogy, this one tells its own story with characters both new and old. Amitrani has made the various factions live and breathe on his future Earth. For those who speculate about our future; pondering the potential of AI; agonizing over adequacy of the food chain; seeking other ways of keeping humanity alive and progressing on this planet, this book is for you. Lots of interesting thoughts and "what-if" type scenarios. Entertaining yet terrifying read.
