About this ebook

An insider exposes the shocking facts left out of the hit Netflix series Making a Murderer—proving that Avery was guilty of murder—in this true crime book.

After serving eighteen years for a crime he didn't commit, Steven Avery was freed—and filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. But before the suit could be settled, Avery was arrested again—this time for the murder of Teresa Halbach. In that now-famous trial, he was convicted once more.

When Making a Murderer became a runaway hit, prosecutor Michael Griesbach was targeted on social media—and plagued by doubt. Now he re-examines all the evidence, offering the most complete account of the case available. Griesbach reviews allegations of tampering and planted evidence, the confession by Avery's nephew, and statements by his former girlfriend. He also examines previously sealed documents deemed inadmissible at the trial—as well as a plausible alternate suspect.

Through it all, Griesbach shows how the filmmakers' agenda, the accused man's dramatic backstory, and sensational media coverage have clouded the truth about Steven Avery.

After watching convicting a murderer I understood, we were outright tricked by almost all the facts. I started listening to calls from avery and looking over facts again and after reading this book, I am embarrassed and horrified that I partook in signatures and donations that could've set free a sexual deviant to the public. This book brought to light so many things I had been learning and that I suspected: that Barbara never wanted to sell the van, that he molested the kids and so much more. one fact I learned that wasn't mentioned was that steven wanted anal sex and other acts that Jodi refused, she told him this in a call. I believe that was motivation. also that Barbara was the real victim. someone molested them all and messed the avery brothers up in the head . all three had a history of sexual deviance. Chuck molested his daughter earl had a video camera hidden in his bathroom and was charged . something happened to their generation and they in turn abused Barbara and her kids

It's definitely interesting hearing it from a perspective of a prosecutor who not only was part of the documentary of the 1st season, but actually part of the law enforcement that has been impacted by this so much. I read this after watching the second season, and actually hope, since the author is open to both sides, that another book comes out from him with the new evidence from Zellner to try to break that up. From the dogs sniffing mainly off of the Avery property, and to break down why it couldn't have been Brendan's brother and step father since the confession of Brendan could be perceived as the truth or not and evidence was found on the Avery property. Also, Kayla's letter impacted me a lot also. Definitely shows the intellectual level of the kids!!!!

Not worth reading if you are familiar with the Avery story. Only goes over all the old ground from the perspective of a prosecutor. I found it to be slightly biased, even though the author claims to be impartial. For example, every time the central police officers in the case are mentioned he can't resist mentioning what good guys they are. Really nothing new or exciting here.
