Mint Chocolate Murder by Meri Allen is 2nd An Ice Cream Shop Mystery. I like Riley Rhodes who manages Udderly Delicious Ice Cream Shop. Riley creates ice cream flavors that have lines out the door at the ice cream shop. The setting of Moy Mull Castle is unique. The pacing was slow. The murder does not occur until almost a quarter of the way into the book. By the time the victim was killed, I already knew who would die and who committed the crime. Too many characters & detailed descriptions.

This is a great summer read. There’s an artist’s festival, ice cream, a murder mystery, and numerous suspects involved. Meri Allen’s writing reminds me of Joanne Fluke, because she keeps you guessing and wondering right up to the suspenseful end when the killer is finally revealed. And best of all, it’s a cozy mystery so there are no gory details. I received a copy of this story to read and give my honest review.

photographic-art, bees, cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, murder, murder-investigation, castle, Connecticut, small-business, small-town, rivalry, friendship, culinary, ice-cream-flavors, law-enforcement***** All those wonderful flavors of ice cream! The story is good as is the sleuthing and all, but the ice cream flavors! It seems to be a locked room mystery with the (very deserving) victim being an unscrupulous photographic artist. The characters are very engaging, the plot is solid and moves along quickly, there are just enough twists and red herrings, and not a few laughs (that demonic cat!). I loved it and am glad that there will be more! I requested and received a temporary digital ARC of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
