Max knew his time to grow up was coming soon but he hadn't figured that his father would finally pull the carpet out from under him and send him away. Max was sure he would escape it without so much as a slap on the wrist. His father having given up Max was now going away to be sent away. This is Max's shot to grow up or fail.
