About this ebook
Calouste Gulbenkian a vu le jour au XIXe siècle, au sein de l'Empire ottoman qu'il a dû quitter dramatiquement. Installé en Europe occidentale, il crée l'industrie pétrolière en Mésopotamie (Irak actuel) aux prix de luttes acharnées, tant politiques que financières. Il consacre une partie de l'immense fortune qu'il a accumulée à la collection d'oeuvres d'art, dont la plupart sont exposées dans un musée portant son nom à Lisbonne.
