MANDEEP K. ATWAL KNEW FROM A YOUNG AGE SHE WANTED TO FIGHT FOR EQUALITY. Motivated and driven, she pursued a career in law, but even when she was a full-fledged lawyer and everything had gone according to her plans, she still felt like something was missing. She felt that it was time to start a family with her husband, Samir. But little did they know how that decision would take their souls to places they never could have imagined.
After multiple complications during the delivery, Mandeep gave birth to her son, JSS. The initial months of motherhood were difficult—and then, everything changed when Mandeep and Samir discovered their son had autism. Their lives became a whirlwind of therapies and doctors’ visits, but the thing that stood out the most to Mandeep was how differently her son was treated at almost every turn. Why did the word “autism” suddenly change the way the world saw her kind, hardworking son? Why was he denied opportunities granted to other children?
A lifelong passion for justice and a never-ending drive to change the world led Mandeep exactly where she was meant to be. From that day onward, Mandeep and her family became advocates for autism awareness, first starting small among their friends and family, then spreading outward in their community. In Noble Victory, Mandeep and her family walk side by side in JSS’s journey with autism and teach us that across the world, we are more alike than we are different, and that even one individual can make a difference.

In Atwal’s debut account, a new mother embarks on a journey of self-discovery with inspiring results. Her love, determined to see the world through the eyes of her son, triumphs in the end. With an unapologetically realistic delivery packed with emotion, Noble Victory, is a crucially important illumination of the difficulties so many families face in advocating for an easier life path for loved ones facing barriers of any kind. This is definitely a must read for those who want to be inspired!

A heartfelt narrative fuelled by hope, faith, and an unwavering dedication to a child's well-being. This story beautifully teaches us the vital lesson of acceptance and inclusion and embracing others for who they are. A compelling source of inspiration to anyone seeking motivation to persevere through life’s challenges with hard work, faith and love. This book is truly engaging and an easy read—you'll find it hard to put down once you start. Beautifully written with a seamless flow. Loved it!

From start to finish this book is emotional, compelling, and inspirational. You feel like you are on the sidelines cheering for Mandeep, crying for her, angry for her. You don't know her, but she's real, and she is human. Through racism, heartache, loss, and constant daily struggles you feel her pain. You feel her willingness to fight and stand up for children with autism, and all who have learning disabilities, or who are considered different but in the end, are just human beings. A must read for anyone, anyone who believes in love, loss, justice, humanity and equality. Pick up your copy today!
About the author
MANDEEP K. ATWAL has been an advocate for human rights and equality since she was a young child born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She received her law degree from the University of Ottawa and articled in Toronto, Ontario with a criminal defense law firm, where she was eventually hired. She went on to practice immigration law with the Department of Justice. In 2005, she moved back to Calgary, Alberta to begin her family with Samir.
After her son was diagnosed with autism, she realized her true calling in life was to be an advocate for those living with autism. She soon began volunteering at organizations for autism support and took a more proactive role by speaking about autism in public schools, malls, local non-profit organizations and foundations, and even corporate businesses. Her first book, Noble Victory, is another step in her advocacy journey, and she hopes that by sharing her story, other families will feel inspired and gain strength in unity. Spreading awareness, fostering acceptance, and ensuring inclusion is the foundation of her advocacy work. Through this work she hopes that those living with autism will be afforded more opportunities to be open about their struggles and victories.
Mandeep currently lives in Calgary, Alberta with her family and continues her advocacy work to this day.
