From a boy abandoned in the woods, Eyolf Sólhrafn becomes a thief, a healer's apprentice, and now the most famous mystic of 10th century Norway. His rags-to-riches success is threatened when a rival wants to expose the dark secrets of his past, so Eyolf must ask for the help of Yngvar Eindriði, a stern and aristocratic warrior who seems to despise him. Lucky Wolf centres on the tumultuous relationship between Eyolf and Yngvar as they journey through the southern half of the kingdom for the summer solstice.
The period of Norway's conversion to Christianity provides the backdrop for the exploration of timeless themes like prejudice, social class, appearance, sexuality, freedom and boundaries.
