Mound Bayou, Mississippi was improving lives since 1887. The creation of the Civil Health Movement and first comprehensive health center was completed in this small town which turned out to be the medical/clinical model for thousands of clinics across the USA. I was a small child in the 1960's, growing and socializing in the midst of all of the marching, meeting, singing, and protesting. This book intertwines the sociopolitical atmosphere with my young life starting at age 3-6. The selected stories are for the purposes of information, entertainment and recalling an interesting historical period in Mound Bayou, Mississippi in the 1960's.

About the author

Leah Hatch was born near Boston, Massachusetts and grew up with a love for books, finding joy in both reading and the dream of writing. Her connection to Mound Bayou Mississippi, began with her father's (Dr. John W. Hatch) work as a community organizer, helping to establish a medical center in the Mississippi Delta. A Speech and Language Pathologist by profession, Leah has dedicated her career to helping others in hospitals schools and nursing homes. Her book is inspired by the vivid and delightful memories of her childhood in Mound Bayou, capturing the spirit of a remarkable community during a transformative era.
