Cerny is a member of American Horse Publications, American Quarter Horse Association, Ranch Horse Association of Michigan, and the International and the Michigan Ranch Horse Association. She holds a masters degree in English and teaches writing and journalism at the university level. She lives on a horse farm in southwest Michigan.
