This is the 6th book in the Mountain Men of Whiskey River series featuring the sweet insta-love romance between Jack&Sage. Jack finally bought a cabin for himself in Whiskey River&he's trying to get it fixed up to how he wants it.Sage needs a safe place to get away from her abusive ex for a few days so she decides to go to her college roommates uncle's cabin in Whiskey River Montana.Jack comes home after work one night& gets the shock of his life when he finds Sage inside his cabin. Sage had no idea that the cabin had been sold so she goes to leave planning to spend the night in her car but the car doesn't start. Jack sees the bruises on Sage&he feels very protective of her he tells her that she can stay for a few nights. I don't want to say anymore& ruin it for anyone else with spoilers.You really need to read this sweet insta-love romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book. Jack is excited to finally have his own cabin in the mountains, he has been working towards it for years. But when he arrives he is not expecting to find a cute brunette, who brings out his protective urges (amongst others) sitting in her PJs on his sofa. Due to some car trouble and the mountain location the two spend the night together in the cabin and when Jack learns the reason why she ran, he won't let her go, but when the full truth comes out, he might have no other choice. I loved this quick and easy read. It was full of love, passion, hurt and forgiveness. It is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone (although the plot of book 1 - Take me to the River - is outlined well so if you haven't read it, it may act as a spoiler) Jack is a sweet heart, who re-evaluated his life and made big changes, still paying for past regrets with his time, money and love. I love Kaci Rose books and have read all the other Mountain Men books in the series. I'm so glad we finally have Jack's story! He comes home one night to discover a stranger in his cabin. Sage has escaped to the cabin to get away from her abusive ex and tried to leave in her car, only to discover it won't start. Jack decides to let her stay for the night before heading into town to look for parts to fix her car. Sage meets all the other Mountain Men and their other halves, who all welcome her with open arms. Mark, her abusive ex manages to find her but get locked up instead. Jack's past comes back to haunt him and realises Sage is better off without him... However, in saying that the story does have its own HEA no need not worry 😉❤️. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
