About this ebook

Charlotte's magic can grow life from the smallest seed. Albert's power can bend metal to his will. Their love might destroy them both.

In the shadows of the Kruluver Mountains, where metal sings to those with the right blood, Charlotte discovers both love and horror.

Deep in mountain caves carved by generations of Metalists, Charlotte finds unexpected refuge with a secretive family of metal-manipulators after being rescued from certain death. As she falls for Albert, the family's youngest son, she brings warmth to their cold stone world—and unknowingly awakens generations of deadly tradition.

When Charlotte becomes pregnant with twins, she uncovers the terrible truth: female Metalist children are never allowed to live. With her daughter's life hanging in the balance, Charlotte must fight against centuries of fear or flee into a wilderness that has claimed countless lives.

Not all gifts are meant to be passed down. Some traditions are written in iron and sealed in blood.

In this stunning standalone novel, KD Lumsden weaves a tale of forbidden love, ancient powers, and the lengths we’ll go to protect those we love. Set in a richly imagined world where magic runs deep but prejudice runs deeper, Bound by Iron & Blood explores themes of identity, belonging, and the cost of breaking cycles of violence. This gripping story will stay with you long after you turn the last page.

Perfect for fans of N.K. Jemisin’s The Broken Earth trilogy and V.E. Schwab’s A Darker Shade of Magic, Bound By Iron & Blood combines intimate character drama with epic world-building in a story that questions what it means to be family—and what it costs to be free.

This story crushed my soul, but had many easter eggs so if you've read the rest of the series, you'll love this book!

About the author

KD Lumsden was raised on a small farm where her youth was spent running away from angry bulls, riding horses, fishing, camping, and daydreaming about fantastic worlds. Born dyslexic, she has learned to use her neurodivergent mind for the good of mankind—creatures on other planets are another story. Though she’s not a fast reader or writer, her mind flies with many stories, eagerly waiting to be told. Better with numbers and art, KD became an architectural designer long before it was cool to work from home, and has always enjoyed drawing, creating maps, laying out and designing buildings, and of course other worldly planets with amazing settings and diverse people. She lives on a farm outside Eugene, Oregon, with her supportive husband, imaginative son, and their many two and four-legged animals.
