WHAT AN AMAZING BOOK!! Amazing description. Top notch thoughts. We read this at school. But I don't understand Miss Minton's personality. On the sunny side I love this book!!!!!! Eva you should have won that award as Michale quite rightly said in the forward

I read this book and it sent me to another world of imagination it is very effective i think it had moments when it gets boring but its an amazing story love it and cant wait to read it again

This book takes you to another world of your own...It's full of new adventures and Maia's quest to return home...This book makes us want to love nature and the wilderness. Absolutely Amazing.

About the author
Eva Ibbotson was born in Vienna, but when the Nazis came to power her family fled to England and she was sent to boarding school. She became a writer while bringing up her four children, and her bestselling novels have been published around the world. Journey to the River Sea won the Smarties Gold Medal and was shortlisted for both the Carnegie Medal and the Whitbread Award. Some of her other young fiction titles include The Secret of Platform 13, Which Witch? and The Great Ghost Rescue. Eva died peacefully in October 2010 at the age of eighty-five.
