I found this book informative, but depressingly cynical. The main theme of the book is that the work place is the watering hole for psychopaths and backstabbers, and if someone is naive or more trusting others more than the said psychopath, he won't make it in the workplace. Also, the humor in the book fell extremely flat; the swearing was hardly spare, and never used in a humorous or applicable way. In conclusion, the book seemed more the rant of a jilted intern who has some experience in the realm of a ill-spent opportunity, rather than an objective and witty review of the process of interning.

About the author

Jamie Fedorko steers prospective interns along every step of the journey. He'll help you with the basic stuff -- hunting down internship leads, acing the interview, and making a great first impression. But this book takes it one step further, into understanding office politics and social etiquette, dealing with impossible bosses, making the most of time-wasting assignments, and drawing a line between being helpful and being a doormat. Hilarious, wry, and wise, The Intern Files will teach you how to enjoy the view from the bottom of the ladder -- and start climbing rapidly to the top.
