James Lee Burke wurde 1936 in Houston / Texas geboren und wuchs in Louisiana auf. Aus der Dave-Robicheaux-Reihe wurden zwei Krimis verfilmt: »Mississippi Delta« (»Blut in den Bayous«) mit Alec Baldwin in der Hauptrolle und »Mord in Louisiana « (»Im Schatten der Mangroven«) mit Tommy Lee Jones.
