Reverend Jacob Smith, M.Div., is a retired (AME) African Methodist Episcopal Church minister, who was a pastor for twenty-three years over one congregation (Greater Saint Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in Bonneau, South Carolina). He was born in Charleston, South Carolina (the Holy City). He grew up in rural Charleston County in the South Santee section of the McClellanville area. He is the husband of Jattie Smith for forty-two years. They are blessed with one daughter, Carol; two grandchildren, Derrick (wife, Tamekia) and Stanisha (husband, Terrell); and three great-grandchildren, Faith, Micah, and Malachi (deceased). His family played a major role in his spiritual life. During his tenure as pastor, he built a new sanctuary (Saint Mark AMEC) and paid it off (in full) in eight years. Reverend Smith also served under four bishops as their Statistician in the South Carolina Palmetto Conference of the AME Church. He believes that God divinely set him apart to write these thoughts of encouragement to the reader. He wants to also remind readers that hope is alive and well. To God be the glory.
