King, Enemy, Husband

Intriguing royal marriage arrangement Tiberius has just reclaimed his father's kingdom from the Accorsi family when he discovers Guinevere Accorsi hiding in the palace. Deciding to marry her right then and there to unite the warring families, he leaves Guinevere with little choice - far from the spoiled daughter, she was essentially imprisoned by her own family so she's prepared to trade that for another form of captivity. Theirs is a quick union but a slower-developing romance as they each work through their own pasts hurts and learn to trust in each other. There's plenty of political intrigue and emotional growth, though perhaps the author could have pared down the rambling internal monologues just a bit. The era in which the story is set is somewhat ambiguous, so I assume it's contemporary but there's not really anything to keep it from reading like an historical romance either. I loved that Guinevere was willing to fight for the future she deserved, and rejoiced when their HEA was finally achieved. It's a captivating romance with plenty of steam and honorable, strong characters. One of my favorites from this author.
