Chapters in this new release include Fundamentals of chirality. Enantioselective behavior and ecotoxicity of environmental chiral pollutants, Chiral pharmaceuticals in environmental samples, An overview of the enantioselective determination of pesticides in environmental samples, An overview of the enantioselective determination of illicit drugs in environmental samples, Recent progress in the analysis of isomers and enantiomers of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in environmental and biological samples, An overview of the enantioselective determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in environmental samples, and much more.Additional chapters cover an overview of the enantioselective determination of musk fragrances in environmental samples, Supercritical fluid chromatography with mass spectrometry for the determination of chiral pollutants, Multidimensional chromatography. A powerful technique in analysis of chiral agrochemicals in environment, Capillary electrophoresis for the determination of chiral pollutants, Indirect chromatographic approach for enantioselective analysis of chiral environmental pollutants, Chiral pesticide fate in soils: processes, experimental considerations, and case studies, and many more interesting topics. - Provides in-depth study of chiral pollutants, including fundamentals, analytical methods, and case studies - Includes analytical techniques that are alternatives to gas and liquid chromatography for chiral determinations - Written by recognized experts on each topic

About the author

Irene Aparicio is Full Professor and the Secretary of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Seville, Spain, and member of the research group Anquimed "Industrial and Environmental Chemical Analysis", since its establishment. Her research trajectory is focused on the optimisation and development of analytical methodologies for the determination of emerging and priority organic contaminants, mainly pharmaceuticals and metabolites, in environmental matrices (surface water, wastewater, sewage sludge, and biota) and their application to fate, removal, degradation, and risk assessment studies. Since 2024, she is member of the Editorial Board of Trends in Environmental Analytical Chemistry.

Esteban Alonso is Full Professor and Director of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Seville. In 2004 he founded the research group Anquimed (Industrial and Environmental Chemical Analysis), with the purpose of improving specifically the knowledge about the dynamics of priority and emerging pollutants in several environmental scenarios and industrial installations. He worked at the Center for New Water Technologies, a non-profit association of private companies and government agencies focused on the field of novel water technologies, before joining the University of Seville.

Juan L. Santos is full professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Seville, Spain, since 2022. He is member of the research group Anquimed (Industrial and Environmental Chemical Analysis) since 2004. His main research lines are focused on studying the dynamics of organic and inorganic pollutants in natural systems and industrial facilities, as well as evaluating the environmental impact of these pollutants on organisms in affected environmental compartments.
