The Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea that are divided between the United States and the United Kingdom. The U.S. Virgin Islands include St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix, while the British Virgin Islands consist of Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. The islands have a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year and are known for their beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush vegetation. The Virgin Islands are also known for their rich history, including the settlement of the islands by Arawak and Carib peoples, the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1493, and the establishment of sugar plantations that brought enslaved Africans to the islands.
