Il 9º Reggimento d'assalto paracadutisti incursori "Col Moschin" (FS - TIER 1), comunemente chiamato "il nono", è l'unico reparto di Forze Speciali dell'Esercito Italiano, una unità ad altissima specializzazione, composta fin dalla ricostituzione del dopoguerra, da Ufficiali, Sottufficiali e Volontari in servizio permanente o in ferma breve/prefissata addestrati e selezionati mediante un iter formativo della durata di circa due anni; tale durata è ridotta a 5 mesi per i VFB (Volontari in Ferma Breve) e per i VFP4 (Volontari in Ferma Prolungata per 4 anni).
Unico nel suo genere, il reggimento recluta personale attraverso selezioni fisiche condotte da appositi Nuclei presso le Scuole e i Reggimenti Addestramento Volontari.
