Human Resource Management: Principles and Practice is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the subject. It is a student –oriented textbook as it satisfies the requirements of students for an exhaustive exposure to the principles and practices of human resource management in a clear direct and easily understand manner. The book focuses on two themes-the need to take a strategic orientation at all levels of the firm and the fact that true competitive advantage lies in a firm’s human resources. To become a successful manager of people, students will need practice. Because many students have limited exposure to real organization, the book contains recent examples from a broad spectrum of organizations to illustrate the major concepts and to help students apply the knowledge. Simplicity is the ethos of the book, and clarity is its strength. The writing is consistent in both level and style, and is easy for students to follow.
