About the author

Dr Liu is currently a professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is a board-certified and Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia fellowship-trained anesthesiologist. He served as the Director of Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Vice Chairman for Research, Academic Affairs at academic departments of anesthesiology in several university hospitals. He also served as the President of Chinese American Society of Anesthesiology (CASA). Dr Liu has extensive experience in perioperative monitoring and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, 5 books as Editor or Associate Editor, and over 100 book chapters.

Dr Alan David Kaye, MD, PhD, is an Interventional Pain Fellowship Director, Vice Chairman of Research and Professor within the Department of Anesthesiology at LSU Health Shreveport and also serves as Professor within the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neurosciences. He previously has served as Provost, Chief Academic Officer, and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs at LSU Health Shreveport. Dr Kaye served for 15 years as Professor, Program Director, Director of Interventional Pain Medicine, and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at LSU Health in New Orleans.
