About this ebook

Hunter. Hunted. Huntress?

Gunslinger by trade, cyborg by circumstance, John Osborne fearlessly roams the Desolation-ravaged ruins of North America. But with his health rapidly failing, John grows desperate to learn the true nature of the artificial appendage grafted to his shoulder.

Running out of time and options, his last hope lies on a remote isle hidden in the far reaches of the Northwoods. Though he suspects a trap, John has no choice but to venture to the mysterious Mallard Island.

Can John unearth the knowledge he seeks? Or will he fall victim to a fate far more sinister? The hunt is afoot in this electrifying second episode of The Northland Chronicles.

My life started on January 1st, 1986. I was the second child born in Madison, Wisconsin that year. My mom has never let me forget that there was no prize for second place.

The colder-than-Pluto winters of my hometown offered ample time to read. My favorites included Asimov's Foundation series, Le Guin's Earthsea trilogy, and the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook, 2nd Edition.

In 2004 I enrolled at the University of Minnesota. A dumpster full of broken calculators and semester in Tokyo later, I graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Japanese.

Fresh out of school and thirsty for adventure, I accepted a contract to teach in South Korea. Three years of Kim Jong-il's threats to plunge Seoul into a sea of flame quenched that thirst. I returned home with only a suitcase full of kimchi and a dream.

That dream was to write.

I holed up in my bedroom and wrote furiously. After aborting my first attempts at a novel, I began work on what would become The Northland Chronicles. Nine months later I released A Stranger North. I've been writing and publishing ever since.

As of 2015 I eat, sleep, and write in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
