September 1872 meldete die in Nürnberg erscheinende Fränkische Chorea dass heute Morgen halb sechs Uhr Ludwig Feuerbach ohne jeden Todeskampf verstorben ist. Die Beerdigung wird am nächsten Sonntag stattfinden. Zwei Schlaganfälle waren vorausgegangen. Man kannte den Philosophen, doch bereits seit den 1850er Jahren war es ruhig um ihn geworden. Die Revolutionäre wollten eine demokratische Umgestaltung der Gesellschaft, ist ein ausgesprochener Demokrat. Feuerbach war ab 1869 Mitglied der Sozialdemokratischen Arbeiterpartei, einer Partei, die damals für tiefgreifende Gesellschafts Reformen eintrat.
