Sleepless in London

It's been one year since Rosie's last boy friend dumped her on Valentine's Day, leaving her lonely and insecure. Her friends dare her to have a one-night stand with the hot guy of her choice. Completely out of character and fueled by liquid courage, she approaches the good-looking but not happy guy at the bar with a cheesy pick up line. She is more than a little shocked when it works. Cal Landry has just returned to London after a trip home to the U.S. to bury his father. Not only is he dealing with his guilt and sadness, he is confused after receiving unwelcome news. The last thing he wanted to do was go home to be alone with his thoughts. Unfortunately, the bar on Valentine's Day is not much better. When he is approached by an attractive stranger with her pick up line, he finds himself intrigued. They agree to one night with no strings and make it to Cal's apartment, only to have him realize she has a little too much liquid courage. Rosie wakes in a strange bed the next morning and high-tails it out before she sees him again. When Cal tracks her down and ends up bailing her out, it seems that they have a second chance for their one night...but it soon becomes obvious that may not be enough. This was a shorter story, but the length doesn't mean it was short on story. It was well-developed, with fun characters. I loved Rosie and her friends, and could just picture the whole bar scene happening with three friends. Cal is not so much a bad boy as one who travels for work and has no desire to settle down. Rosie's confidence has take a beating and, until Cal gets his act together, he doesn't help. The romance starts out for Cal and Rosie as a one night stand on Valentine's day. The attraction between the two is sizzling. I fell in love with Cal's character. For Cal being such a "bad boy" he turned out to be such a romantic. Even though this is a short, fast paced romance there is still some depth about the characters.
