About this ebook

First and Second Samuel relate the accounts of a Jewish priest named Samuel, and the first two kings of Israel, Saul and David. Samuel is considered as the first in a line of prophets whose writings make up the biblical Books of Prophecy. He was certainly not the first prophet— consider Moses and Joshua. The Books of Samuel give an account of the conflict that preceded the establishment of the Davidic throne at Jerusalem. The books also record David's military victories, his great sin, his flight at the time of Absalom's revolt, his return to Jerusalem, and his sin in numbering the people. The Davidic Covenant is set forth in Second Samuel. David’s descendants include Messiah Jesus.
