Set in Tidewater, Virginia, in the 1980s and early 1990s, Angelhead documents the violent, drug-addled, schizophrenic descent of the author's brother, Michael. My whole family is from where Michael is from. I am born and raised in Newport News and I am the younger sister of mentally ill brother. I devoured this book. Excellent writing.

English teacher at my college recommended this book, makes me tear ever time, I can relate so much, it's crazy.
