About this eBook

A clone has been the victim of a savage killing. The investigation may uncover a threat to humanity's very existence.

Great North Road is a gripping space adventure from science fiction star Peter F. Hamilton, the author of The Night's Dawn trilogy. For fans of Philip K. Dick and Kim Stanley Robinson.

In Newcastle, AD 2142, a clone from the powerful North family is found brutally murdered. Assigned to the case, Detective Sidney Hurst makes a startlingly discovery: the circumstances are eerily identical to a series of murders from twenty years ago on the alien world of St Libra.

Angela Tramelo, the sole survivor of the previous attack, was convicted for the crime. Yet she never wavered under interrogation – claiming she alone survived an alien attack. Was she telling the truth?

Investigating this alien threat becomes top priority and a vast expedition to the planet St Libra begins. Angela, begrudgingly released, accompanies them. But then the team finds themselves stranded in St Libra's dense alien rainforests. And then the bloodshed begins . . .

Filled with intrigue, suspense and alien threats, Great North Road by Peter F. Hamilton is perfect for fans of Philip K. Dick and Kim Stanley Robinson.

After the initial shock of a sci fi space opera kicking off in Newcastle of all places, this novel soon launch into a different orbit. Intriguing murder plot in universe brilliantly created by the author. So many sub plots and fully rounded characters and keeps you guessing right to the end. A great read and wonderful voyage around some new worlds, just sad it's over. Well recommended a true epic tale.

This standalone gem is as brilliant as anything he has done before. There is a patience, maturity and detail to his world building that requires no effort from the reader to suspend disbelief and accept his universe without question. A lot of recurring themes in Great North Road - enigmatic aliens, strong female characters, powerful industrialists and bleeding edge technologies that provide as much enjoyment when they go wrong as when they go right. I would recommend this to anyone!

Well written and cleverly crafted with some excellent tech and scientific speculation. Unfortunately a lot of the underpinning themes have been used in his earlier books and Peter f H seriously needs a new editor. If you haven't already, I'd recommend reading The Reality Dysfunction or Pandora's Star/Judas Unchained first instead.
