हिंदू वाङ्मय की समृद्ध परंपरा में सबसे प्रमुख श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता की बहुत सारी व्याख्याएँ मिल सकती हैं। पर मनुष्य के विकास के साथ उसके प्रति दृष्टिकोण और उसकी व्याख्या में परिवर्तन होते ही रहते हैं। नहीं तो एकमात्र व्याख्या पर्याप्त थी। व्याख्याओं की परंपरा में इस एक नई व्याख्या का आधार यह है कि इसमें गीता के प्रति एक वैज्ञानिक का दृष्टिकोण हमें प्राप्त होता है। गीता को ‘गीताशास्त्रम्’ कहा जाता है; पर यह शास्त्र अध्यात्म शास्त्र है। लेकिन उस अध्यात्म शास्त्र के पीछे भी कुछ विज्ञान छिपा हुआ है तो वह क्या हो सकता है; इसी की खोज सी. राधाकृष्णन ने की है। गीता में अध्यात्म; काव्य; योग; भक्ति आदि बहुत सारे शास्त्र हैं; उनके साथ-साथ भौतिक विज्ञान की दृष्टि से अवलोकन और व्याख्या अत्यंत रोचक और आकर्षक बन पड़ी है।
