At the ripe old age of ten, Gitty and her classmates underwent an IQ test followed by a short interview. A week later, it was announced that of the twenty-five students in her class, twenty had been chosen for the Talented and Gifted Program. Gitty, along with two foreign exchange students who could barely speak English, was in the remaining five.
