Geography is a multidisciplinary field which looks at both physical and social aspects of the world. The broad scope of the field makes it a daunting area for those who do not have a specific background in it. Frank R. Spellman is assistant professor of Environmental Health at Old Dominion University and the author of more than 50 books, including Ecology for Nonecologists (GI, 2008) and Geology for Nongeologists (GI, 2009).
