The book is about the man in the title and his footballing career and the influence he had on the writers life. The start of international football and the links from amatuer to professional in the game at the time of his playing career. Internatioal games and club games and the affect of war in the middle of a career. Captaining Ireland as a highlight in that career. How different the times are now to the way now with communication links being instant and the organisation of internatioal and domestic football and some of the changes that have taken place.
